Paper Doll (2019) is a photo installation that explores the ties between outward dress and inward identity and considers the way that we read into the clothes of individuals on an everyday basis. Inside a white box, there is a single paper doll, eleven swappable outfits, and five backgrounds all created photographically.
The variety of dress includes different expressions or gender, age, occupation, and style. The diversity of this wardrobe is paired with a single figure to represent the use of dress as an instrument to send a message about individual identity. The inclusion of different settings from domestic to professional raises the idea that one individual may change their outward expression of self situationally.
